Lou is a border collie from Keen-Eye Stock Dogs. He was purchased as a trial-ready dog, having been bumped to Open in his first year of trialing as a 2 year-old. Lou is very strong-eyed and powerful, yet generally is quite kind to his stock.

On his father's side, he goes back to Berhow's Nick. His mother is a full sister to Keen-Eye Teag, a finalist in the World Stockdog Championships at the Calgary Stampede, and the winner of numerous Open trials. Click here to view Lou's pedigree.

We participate in sheepdog trials, competing in the Open class. His strengths are his outwork and his penning. He also loves to shed, although you need to make sure that there's enough room for that big head to come through.

Lou is an urban sheepdog. An urban sheepdog is, quite plainly, a sheepdog who lives in the city. There are no sheep for him to work, but he does enjoy the company of Wicked, a very silly little border collie.

One of the hazards of living in a townhouse is getting stuck in small corners. This happens to Lou alot. Every night, as a matter of fact. Poor Lou.

Another hazard for the urban sheepdog is stationary objects. Lou runs into things... at full pace. Benches, chairs, tables, trees, other dogs... everything is a hazard to Lou. I may buy him a helmet.

While some advocate against keeping a border collie in the city, much less in an apartment, Lou seems to love city living. He sleeps most of the day, but is always up for a trip to the park. After chasing Wick, he goes back to sleep. Ahh, the life of a city dog!
